When I think of nice, I imagine the saccharin smiles of Stepford Wives who consume human souls with their hangry judgement. Nom Nom Nom

Maybe it’s not as bad as that … but niceness is suffocating nonetheless.

Niceness is a social construct to maintain the status quo. It consists of a collection of rules for how to behave with others. It’s about polite gestures, having a pleasing demeanor, and displaying good manners. It’s transactional: I play my part and you agree to play yours.
