5 Steps for Crafting Intentions to Manifest What Matters
At Lil' Habit, we know that small, everyday actions lead directly to living a more fulfilling life. I'll take it one step further - lil’ habits pave the path to your biggest dreams, whatever they may be.
While I can't predict your specific desires, I do know that cultivating positive rituals makes room for growth, creativity, and possibility. All it takes is tuning into what matters, then creating space for it through lil’ steps taken day after day.
Let's talk about intentions – a focused purpose that provides a clear direction. Intentions go beyond measurable goals; they're about aligning with a state of being. Of course intentions and goals work together. Intention hones your energy to drive you in a positive direction, while goals supply measurable markers along the path to track your progress.
Although the power of intention is often brushed off as "woo-woo" or mystical, it’s grounded in psychological mechanisms.
Intentions work because of the focused attention and meaning given to a desired state or outcome. This intense mental engagement triggers our reticular activating system (the brain's attention center) to notice related opportunities and guides neural pathways to support our aligned choices. Seeing and feeling yourself in a future reality reinforces those neural networks, making that path more accessible.
While a touch abstract, intentions generate real, measurable progress. My favorite part about intentions is how they allow us to tune into a desired future state and then make choices from that energy. I’ll give you an example of what I mean.
Sara took my “True North” Quiz which helped affirm that her BIG DREAM (all caps!) of running a dog rescue aligns with her values. Although she’d been daydreaming about it for years, she hadn’t been bold enough yet to set the intention.
Setting the intention focuses Sara's thoughts and actions toward her BIG DREAM. She visualizes herself pulling dogs from shelters and providing them with a safe space to decompress.
When faced with daily choices in her current life, Sara starts making decisions from her new energetic vision, like saving more aggressively for startup costs and researching rescue grants on weekends. She also creates a lil’ habit to support existing rescue efforts, which includes networking, volunteering, and sharing rescue posts on Facebook.
Her intention allows her to activate a new reality and she starts behaving as this future version of herself. She begins to live her BIG DREAM life in the present moment.
Intentions grant you authorship over your story.
No longer defined by old patterns on autopilot, you pursue what genuinely matters instead of reacting to what comes your way. Intentions provide you with the opportunity to actively participate in your life the way you want to live it.

Get crystal clear on what you desire. Take this quick quiz to reconnect with your values. Stay open and curious about what the quiz inspires.
Frame your intention positively. Focus on what you want rather than what you don’t want. Let your language be uplifting and inspiring.
Build an empowering narrative about how your intention connects to your core motivations, values, and vision. Use a storytelling format that truly resonates with you. This could be a vision board, journaling, sharing with a safe person, or reciting a daily affirmation.
Nurture clarity and consistency. Create a lil’ habit to give daily action to your intention.
Trust the process. Release the need to control exact outcomes and have faith that your intention will guide you to where you need to be.
When you create your intention with care, it becomes a guiding force that leads you toward growth, fulfillment, and inner peace. It's all about honing in on what matters most.
By taking it one lil’ habit at a time, the compounding power of tiny repeated purposeful action gives you the momentum to manifest an amazing life. This builds your bridge from intention to reality.
